Verfolgt – vertrieben – vergessen! 500 Jahre Täufertum im Kanton Zürich
Die Ausstellung in der Zentralbibliothek zeigt die wenig bekannte, aber bewegte Geschichte des Täufertums im Kanton Zürich mit Dokumenten aus dem eigenen Bestand und anderen Institutionen. Sie findet aus Anlass des 500. Geburtstags der ersten Erwachsenentaufe in Zürich statt (21.1.1525).

500 Jahre Prophezey – Übersetzen, verstehen, vermitteln – feiern!
An der Theologischen und Religionswissenschaftlichen Fakultät der Universität Zürich forschen und lehren heute Wissenschaftler:innen mit neusten Methoden zu aktuellen Themen rund um Theologie, Religion und Spiritualität.
Die Wurzeln der Fakultät reichen weit zurück, bis ins Jahr 1525, in dem die «Prophezey» gegründet wurde. Seit einem halben Jahrtausend wird an der Kirchgasse im Herzen von Zürich übersetzt, diskutiert, verstanden und vermittelt.
2025 feiern wir 500 Jahre «Prophezey» mit zahlreichen Veranstaltungen, die auf je unterschiedliche Weise die Bedeutung der «Prophezey» und ihrer Folgeinstitutionen sichtbar machen. Dazu gehören wissenschaftliche Tagungen und Publikationen sowie unterschiedlichste Aktivitäten für ein breites Publikum.

Quilt Exhibit: Offering Warmth, Comfort and Hope
The quilt exhibit in the Predigerkirche tells a story of charity in action—made visible and tangible through patchwork comforters that provide warmth, comfort and hope. On display are comforters drawn from the exhibit “Passing on the Comfort,” an exhibit that documented how patchwork comforters came to Europe from North America during World War II and supported people in need there.
The exhibit is complemented by current examples. Today, inspired by that tradition of solidarity, groups in Europe continue to sew and knot patchwork comforters for people in war and crisis zones.
What’s more, visitors are also invited to lend a hand! Join experienced patchworkers to help knot comforters, contributing your own piece of hope.

It All Began in Zollikon
Remembering the Origins of the Anabaptist Movement in Zollikon, 1525

Spring 1525: Trouble is brewing in Zollikon. For some local residents, the Reformation introduced in 1523 is not progressing fast or radically enough. They reject infant baptism, challenge established authorities – and carry the baptismal font out of the church. It is the beginning of Anabaptism, a movement that would spread from here out into the world. What compelled people in Zollikon 500 years ago to question religious certainties, social order, and inherited norms? Why did they risk persecution and imprisonment? And why did the Anabaptist community in Zollikon dissolve so quickly?
The exhibition «It All Began in Zollikon» explores these questions. Five large-format posters at historical locations trace the early days of Anabaptism – right where the events of 1525 actually took place. A dedicated exhibition room at the Ortsmuseum complements the posters with artefacts, documents and historical context. Both parts of the exhibition are on view until 31 October 2025.
Tracing the path of Anabaptism is not merely a look into the past. It touches on enduring themes: freedom of belief, community, resistance. A walk through Zollikon becomes a journey of reflection – back to 1525 and deep into our present.
